Skiing Holidays in Gressoney

Gressoney

Ski holidays in Gressoney

Gressoney is located within the Monterosa ski area with 180km of piste covered in the lift pass and high altitude glacier skiing on offer with guaranteed snow security. The area is most suited to skiers looking for intermediate skiing but beginners and advanced skiers are serviced as well. The three main resorts that are covered on the area lift pass are Gressoney, Champoluc, and Alagna. All three resorts are linked up via pistes and lifts.

The ski resort of Gressoney

Gressoney is a beautiful classically Italian little ski resort. It is pretty quiet but ideal for those looking for a relaxing week with great skiing included. It is main up of two areas, one called Stafal and one called La Trinite. Each has its own resort center and each has its own identity. Needless to say, there are some fantastic restaurants on offer in both. It is a rare ski resort in Italy that does not have some great restaurants. The Italians know how to do food and they know how to do it well.

Beginner skiing in Gressoney ****

The main area for beginners learning to ski in Gressoney is at the top of the Punta Jolanda lift. There are some easy blue runs on which to gain your ski legs and then there are plenty of additional blue runs to progress onto towards the end of your holiday.

Intermediated skiing in Gressoney****

Gressoney is most suited to intermediate skiers who like skiing on blue and red runs which make up 70% of the entire pisted area in the Monterosa region. With 180km of piste covered on the lift pass there is plenty of skiing to keep intermediate skiers help during the course of a ski holiday in Gressoney. And for those who want to test themselves a little bit there are 6 black runs in the area as well.

Advanced skiing in Gressoney ***

There are a few black runs for advanced skiers to test themselves on when on a ski holiday in Gressoney but the main attraction is the amount of off piste skiing that is on offer. The off piste skiing is in abundance but to stay on the right side of the law make sure you hair a guide.

Snowboarding holidays in Gressoney ****

A snowboarding holiday in Gressoney is best suited to intermediate snowboarders who enjoy riding piste and want access to a snow park and boarder cross, but who do not need a huge snow park to keep you happy. If you are a snowboarder who is all about riding off piste then Gressoney will be great. Even if you don't get fresh snow whilst you are there you can often get fresh lines days after it has snowed.

Off piste skiing in Gressoney ****

Gressoney has gained a reputation for being one the the best off piste ski resorts in Europe. It certainly lives up to its rep! If you like off-piste skiing, then Gressoney-La-Trinitè is the best place in this valley. Much of the best off piste in the area is on the southern side of the ridge between Gressoney and Alagna so being based in Gressoney-La-Trinite gives you easy access. The Salati Punta Indren cable car goes all the way up to 3275m and from the top there are some amazing off piste routes down to both Alagna and Gressoney. Alagna also has a huge managed free-ride area which is great for catching fresh lines or if you can stretch the budget then give heli-skiing a go!

Gressoney après ski

There is not really all that much après ski in Gressoney. There are a few bars for a drink or two after a day on the slopes but Gressoney is definitely not a resort for those looking for a week of partying. For a few laid back après ski drinks try the bar in the Hotel Dufour or Bar One.

Non ski activities and other après ski in Gressoney
