The picturesque ski resort of Hochgurgl is a high altitude resort and lies at an eye watering 2150m. Hochgurgl is the smaller village that is linked to Obergurgl, these resorts together are ranked as the 46th highest town in the world, and thanks to its mighty height, snow is guaranteed. It is nestled on a beautiful sunny plateau that over looks the Otztal Valley, and surrounded by glaciers. It has an excellent snow record, short transfer form Innsbruck and with slopes over 3000m it is the perfect snow sure ski holiday destination.
Since 1998 Hochgurgl has been linked to Obergurgl via an 8-person gondola called the Top Express Obergurgl- Hochgurgl. This lift creates an 110km ski area, 54km in Hochgurgl and 56km km in Obergurgl. These slopes are perfect for intermediate skiers and snowboarders. However if this is not enough for you, these resorts are part of the Otztal ski area. If you purchase the Otztal ski pass, it allows access to other great ski areas such as Solden. It is possible to ski in Hochgurgl over 3000m with these high altitude slope snow ensured, throughout the season. Hochgurgl and Obergurgl where linked in 1998 by an 8 person chairlift. This chairlift takes 8 minutes and is 3.6km (2.25 miles) long and is said to be one of the most stunning in the Alps. Thanks to this chairlift it created 110km of slopes.
