Les Arcs is linked to La Plagne by the Vanoise Express and forms part of the massive Paradiski Area. With 425 km of slopes, it is the 3rd largest ski area in France, and with its high peaks and glaciers snow is guaranteed, there really is something for everyone.
There are nursery slopes in all the four ski areas in Les Arcs. Les Arcs 1800 offers the sunniest and widest ski runs, and Arc 2000 has snow sure gentle runs from the Col de la Chal. Arc 1600 and Peisey Vallandry offer plenty of tree lined skiing.
Due to the enormous size of the Paradiski area, there are plenty of intermediate skiing opportunities on offer. There are some great tree-lined routes from Arc 2000 to Peisey Vallandry that are a must experience for any skier.
For expert skiers there are some fantastic black slopes from the Aiguille Rouge (3226 m), including the 7km long black that runs to Villaroger, perfect to get the adrenalin pumping.
Snowboarding was popularized in France by local ski instructor Regis Rolland with his Apocalypse snow series of films and Les Arcs is often regarded by some as the home of European snowboarding. There is a large terrain park perfect for learning new skills or practicing old ones. Les Arcs offers chalets and many apartments that are ideal for a snowboarding holiday.
There are plenty of off-piste routes from the back of the Aiguille rouge down to Villaroger or down the back of the Bellecote glacier inĀ La Plagne to the Nancroix Valley, just below Plan Peisey, although guides are recommended. There are also off piste routes from Tignes available and Heli-skiing can be arranged from Arc 2000 and Arc 1950.
