Zell am See is linked to Kaprun forming the Europa Sports Region, and ha also recently be linked up with Saalbach-Hinterglemm and offers ski holidays in some of the most spectacular scenery in the whole of the Alps. With the link to Saalbach-Hinterglemm the ski area now offers over 400km of piste. The Kitsteinhorn Glacier stands at a mighty 3,203m and has glacial skiing all year round so there is guaranteed snow. With Mount Schittenhöhe located in the center of town you are never to far from the slopes and with its short transfer from Salzburg it really is a perfect choice for your winter holiday.
This resort has some great skiing for first timers and children; the best areas are up the Sonnenalm cable cars where there is some easy blues. Or try the City Xpress where there are some outstanding views.
There are some nice wide red runs and on the Sonnenalm; or you can try the Hirschkogel lift over to the Areit side, here you can enjoy the long Schüttabfahrt piste down to Schüttdorf. Mount Schittenhöhe also befits from having many tree-lined slopes.
Zell am See has a great reputation for its long and medium steep slopes through the forest and is featured on the World Cup circuit. If this is not enough for you if you buy the Alipn Card ski pass allowing you to also ski in the nearby resorts of Saalbach & Hinterglemm and access a total of 408km of amazing piste skiing.
Snowboarders will enjoy the wide blue and red runs on the Sonnenalm and the Snow Park on the Schmitten.
